Join the SCILS Fellowship

SCILS welcomes all eligible persons to register as Members of the Society.

Eligible persons are required to pay full Membership fees and Annual Subscription Fees to maintain an Active membership with SCILS.

Membership Requirements

1Membership Categories

There are five (5) categories of membership of SCILS, namely:

Ordinary Membership

For full-time practicing science leaders, academics, and researchers committed to advancing scientific excellence.

Associate Membership

For professionals, corporate affiliates, and collaborators aligned with SCILS objectives and seeking cross-disciplinary network opportunities.

Corporate Membership

For organizations, universities, industry partners, and parastatals seeking to support and collaborate with the SCILS academic network.

Student Membership

For early-career students and aspiring young researchers pursuing degrees in STEM and science-related fields.

Honorary Membership

Distinguished individuals recognized by the SCILS general assembly for their exceptional contributions to the advancement of science leadership.


Membership Fees

  • Full time members shall pay a Membership and an annual subscription fee as indicated under section 3.0 and the fees shall be reviewed regularly by the annual general assembly.

  • Membership fees are due from 1st September to 31st December each year in advance.

  • Any member who resigns or is removed from membership shall not be entitled to a refund of his/her subscription or any part thereof or any moneys contributed by him/her at any time.

Annual subscriptions must be kept active to maintain voting privileges during the general assembly.

Cessation of Membership

Membership cessation occurs under explicit conditions. Active status will cease automatically or undergo review upon the following:

Formal resignation submitted in writing.
Failure to pay full annual membership fees for an entire year to SCILS.
Gross misconduct in the professional context (e.g., consistent display of unawareness of the subject in writings, plagiarizing/cheating, personal misbehaviour, etc.)

Decisions regarding gross misconduct are thoroughly reviewed by the SCILS disciplinary committee.

Termination

Termination of Membership

Termination of membership shall be upon:

Becoming or holding a political office
Expulsion from the society
Death or winding up of SCILS
Resignation

Resignation Terms

Any member desiring to resign from SCILS shall submit his/her resignation to the secretary, which shall take effect from the date of receipt by the secretary of such notice.

Expulsion

Expulsion Guidelines

Any member may be expelled from membership if the committee so recommends and if a general meeting of SCILS shall resolve by a two-thirds majority of the members present that such a member should be expelled on the grounds that his conduct has adversely affected the reputation or dignity of SCILS.

The committee shall have power to suspend a member from his membership until the next general meeting of SCILS.
